The COMMAS Spring Summer 2022 collection is inspired by beauty of the Australian coastline, influenced by the simplified forms of minimalistic American painter Milton Avery.
The collection is filled with all of the heritage signatures the brand has become world renowned for — hand-painted silks; heavy-woven textural linens; loose-fitting drawstring waist trousers; relaxed, soft tailoring; and recycled polyamide swim briefs.
Inspired by 20th century modernist painter, Milton Avery the spring summer 2022 collection employs a soft, tonal palette. Muted greens and sky blues, sunrise pinks conjure the brooding Australian coastline, while hand painted motifs of abstract native plant-life convey a brighter playfulness.
The collection signals a return to the brands Australian roots, a timely sentiment after the designer being homebound for over a year. The narrative both celebrates and encourages a sundrenched coastal Australian lifestyle, while paying homage to the natural beauty of Jarman’s childhood backyard.
